What is Geothermal Heating and Cooling?

Geothermal technology captures the heat stored beneath the earth’s surface. A geothermal heating and cooling system consists of a heat pump and a ground loop that warms or cools a circulating fluid, depending on the season. In the summer months, the heat pump transfers heat extracted from the house into the ground and returns the cooled air to the house. In the winter, the system extracts heat stored in the ground and transfers it to the house.
